Morning Glory!

I go for a 3 mile walk five times a week (unless I'm sick), and this morning was spectacular!
Every twig and branch was hung with lacy snowflakes! The sky was blue; and there was no wind! The air was fresh and crisp, but not cold.

I didn't wear gloves or a hat, and I was plenty warm. After I finished my regular walk, I dashed home to get a camera.

I wanted to see if I could catch some of the fascinating patterns of snow that I had seen during my walk. Everything had snow hanging on it--it seemed the snow had been going sideways instead of straight down.

I loved how pretty the sunlight was playing on this fence in MaryEllen Bryan's yard!

I was amazed at all of the angles that could hold up a branch full of snow!

You'll note that the streets are black--not icy--just wet. I have lived a lot of years to finally see a winter storm like I've always wished for! We got the beauty without the driving dangers!!

I took this shot looking straight up from the middle of the street. The blue sky was also spectacular and the clouds were happy looking!

The world looked almost monochromatic except for the sky--it was like a fairy land!

An hour before this, there were even more snowflakes hanging in every position on every twig. I took this as a reminder, though some of the snow has already fallen off in this picture.

I don't know what this picture will look like on a large screen, but to my eye, the detail was fascinating. There was sunlight sprinkling through the branches, and little droplets of water were forming underneath each pile of snow as it started to melt. It was like looking through prisms!

Judy Hurst and I have been walking buddies for over 20 years (that's a lot of miles), and for 18 of those years we were determined to walk outside no matter what the weather was like. Last year, we mellowed a bit and decided to use the mall on the gusty, wet, or icy days. This morning we were able to walk outside and enjoy the sparkling diamonds of snow on everything!

It's nearly spring, and many of the trees looked a bit uncomfortable trying to hold up their load of spring sap as well as the night's wintry gift of snowfall. It was an experience I wanted to remember and share!
